Glencoe is world renown as a centre for mountaineering and hillwalking, but it is also the ideal location in which to relax or to use as a convenient base to tour the western highlands of Scotland.

Easy Walks
Its not all steep mountains! A selection of easy walks for all ages and abilities in the local area.
Mountain Walks
Glencoe is blessed with some of Britain's finest high level mountain walking country. The routes and opportunities for adventure are endless, but here are just a few of the many classic routes that the experienced hillwalker will enjoy.
Climbing Glencoe is perhaps the best glen in Scotland for the variety of climbing routes, and its no surprise that Clachaig is the home of Scottish Mountaineering.
Mountain Biking
Glencoe perhaps doesn’t immediately strike you as a great place for mountain biking. After all, the hills are a bit steep! However, there’s a wide range of riding possibilities in the area to suit all abilities.
Day Trips
Tips and suggestions for days out in the West Highlands, taking in the best visitor attractions, places of interest, coffee shops and, of course, the views.
Beaches The west coast beaches are an absolute must in good summer weather. The silver sands at Morar were made famous by the hit film Local Hero. Discover some other hidden gems.
Snow Sports
With Glencoe Mountain Resort just at the head of Glencoe and Nevis Range 25 miles to the north, snow sports are well catered for in the Glencoe area.
Birdwatching & Wildlife
Glencoe is a fascinating place for those interested in natural history. The mountains hereabouts demonstrate all the characteristics of a classic geological formation - a cauldron subsidence, and the wildlife in the area is both interesting and varied.
Fishing There are many opportunities for fishing in the area, although in some areas there are restrictions or permits required.
Golf
The Dragon's Tooth Golf Course is a picturesque and challenging 9 hole course, located close to Ballachulish Bridge. There's also a variety of other golf courses which welcome visitors throughout Lochaber.
Family
