Glencoe is famous for its mountains but there’s plenty of water too! The River Etive is a favourite with paddlers and the River Coe also draws increasing numbers of boats too.
However, a paddle in a kayak on Loch Leven in the summer sun tends to have a wider appeal. Oban is a little under an hours drive away and also offers a variety of watersports with yachts, dinghys and kayaks.
Highly recommended is a taster session with Paddle Lochaber for some sea kayaking on Loch Leven.
All equipment is provided and no previous experience is necessary. Half, full and multi-day trips are available, or perhaps you fancy an evening taster session. Based in nearby Ballachulish, it's an ideal opportunity to get out onto Loch Leven and perhaps take in one of the spectacular sunsets over Ardgour.
Lochaber Watersports in Ballachulish are ideally based for getting out onto Loch Leven. They hire Laser sailing dinghies, canoes, rowing boats and pedaloes, plus charter of a few slightly larger craft.
If you like dressing up in rubber then Onich based Vertical Descents might appeal. Exhilarating activities including Canyoning, White Water Rafting, Fun Yakking, Bridge Swing, Paintball and Mountain Biking.
For more information about sailing on Loch Leven plus the opportunity of participating in races or the community sailing programme try Glencoe Boat Club. The annual Glencoe Regatta takes place in June each year and brings a sailing spectacle to the shores of Loch Leven at Tighphuirt.
